Ecology and evolution of tumor progression

Oncogenesis is accompanied by various markers of ecological and evolutionary processes that can be leveraged to gain insights into predictive oncology. Leveraging principles from evolutionary biology, I study the influence of context-dependent selection and drift on clonal expansion in solid tumors.

To delineate evolutionary dynamics relating complex biological mechanisms during the malignant transformation of neoplasms, I developed forward-time simulations of tumor progression in the context of selective pressures within the tumor microenvironment.
